If you know roughly how many pupils are at your school, how regularly you upload photographs, how many photographs you keep and how long you want them to remain available, we can help you choose the most appropriate plan.
School size and photography usage are not always the same thing. A larger school that uploads photographs occasionally may need less photo capacity than a smaller school that creates new galleries every week.
That is why going slightly above your plan’s pupil allowance does not automatically mean moving to the next plan. Additional pupil capacity can be added in blocks of 200 pupils for £100 per year.
This allows schools to stay on the plan that best reflects their photography and retention requirements rather than moving up simply because their pupil numbers sit just above a plan threshold.
If your school has particularly high photography requirements, additional photo storage is available at an additional cost. This means you do not need to move to a larger pupil plan simply because your school takes more photographs.
For most schools using The School Gallery regularly throughout the year, Standard is a good place to start.
Photo capacity is the maximum number of photographs your school can have stored on The School Gallery at any one time. It is not an annual upload allowance.
If your school uses a shorter retention period, older photographs are automatically removed when they reach the end of that period, and the freed capacity can then be used for new uploads. This means schools using shorter retention periods can reuse their available photo capacity throughout the year.
Schools choosing Lifetime Storage use storage differently, because photographs may remain on the platform for several years. Lifetime Storage therefore comes with a larger photo allowance.
All photo allowances are based on an average uploaded image size of 10 MB. Individual image sizes will vary, so actual capacity may vary depending on the files uploaded.
Sometimes adding pupil capacity is the most cost-effective option. At other times, moving to the next plan provides better overall value.
A school with 500 pupils and relatively modest photography requirements may be perfectly suited to Essentials with additional pupil capacity. A smaller school that wants to retain photographs until pupils leave may prefer Essentials with Lifetime Storage. Likewise, a larger school can remain on Standard and add pupil capacity if its photography requirements are relatively modest.
For schools using Standard with Lifetime Storage, Premium becomes increasingly attractive as pupil numbers grow, because it includes capacity for up to 2,000 pupils as part of the plan.
The aim is simple: choose the plan that best matches how your school actually uses The School Gallery.
Lifetime Storage allows photographs to remain available throughout a pupil’s time at the school.
Because these photographs may be retained for several years, Lifetime Storage also increases the photo capacity included with Essentials and Standard.
This gives schools the flexibility to choose long-term retention without automatically moving to a plan designed for a much larger pupil population.
